Disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña Still Without Answers

Loan Danilo Peña, the missing boy in the province of Corrientes, would be 6 years old today. Almost eleven months since the search began, there is still no solid lead about his whereabouts. The disappearance of the minor took place on June 13, 2024, in the town of 9 de Julio during a family lunch.

"This Thursday, May 8, the family of the little boy hoped to organize a nice birthday celebration, but for almost a year now, there have been no joys in the Peña household," is the sad reality faced by his loved ones. Despite the efforts of an entire country, the Sofía Alert activated, and the extensive mobilization of security forces in Argentina, a concrete plan to locate the boy has not yet been established.

In the framework of the investigation, there are currently seven detained and charged with the crime of child abduction. Even though all have been processed, the case seems far from being resolved. The case is in the provincial court and, almost a year after Loan's disappearance and in the midst of another birthday without celebration, the question of what happened that day remains unanswered.

The detainees in the case are Antonio Benítez, Daniel “Fierrito” Ramírez, Mónica Millapi, Laudelina Peña, María Victoria Caillava, Carlos Pérez, and Walter Maciel. Only by mid-July could there be definitions, as it is expected that Judge Cristina Penzo will conclude the investigation stage after a second extension, which would lead the case to trial.

Additionally, in a parallel investigation, there are another 10 detained for obstructing the file, among other crimes.
